Welcome to the Official Home of the Prescott Bird Busters

trapshooting-large11.jpgThe Prescott Bird Busters, sponsored by the Prescott Trap and Skeet Club, is a Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP).  SCTP is a team-based youth development program that uses the shotgun sports to instill discipline, safety, teamwork, ethics, self-confidence and other life values. Team members can participate in any or all three of the clay target disciplines: trap, skeet and sporting clays.

SCTP was developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in conjunction with the firearms industry and shotgun shooting governing bodies and is now nationally governed by the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (S3F) to provide team participation to youth in the shotgun shooting sports.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department sponsors the program in Arizona and Prescott Bird Busters invites students from age 9 though graduation of high school to an opportunity to learn about firearms, safety, and teamwork in a safe environment by certified shotgun coaches.

Participants may choose not to become competitive or may compete in a variety of events from Fun Shoots to State Championships to National Championships.

Shooting Season
The season runs from October 1 through May 1.  Those teams who win the state championships at the end of the season are then eligible to participate in the National Championships during the summer.  International shoots and competitions for those desiring to participate in our international sports are held at the conclusion of the season.

Joining The Team:
All young people, age 9 though 12th grade are welcome to participate in four divisions: Rookie, Intermediate, Junior Varsity, and Varsity.  Individuals are encouraged to please contact the Lead Instructor of Prescott Bird Busters or contact the Shooting Sports Coordinator of the Arizona Game and Fish Department directly.

Practices begin each fall and continue though spring. Coaches are volunteers who are certified by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. They are responsible for organizing club activities and practices, and for teaching team members how to safely operate a firearm, and the basic rules and fundamentals of the shooting disciplines: Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays.
